Jatindra Rajendra Mahavidyalaya is a general degree arts college, established in 1986 and is affiliated to the University of Kalyani and accredited with grade “B” by the NAAC in 2024 (3 rd Cycle). The college is situated on the western bank of river, Jalangi at the village of Amtala in Nowda block in the district of Murshidabad, West Bengal. The Department of Philosophy in the college initially offered undergraduate courses in general stream and it started offering Honours Course since 2005. The college is replete with students’ services like green campus, facilities like library, canteen, Wi-Fi connectivity, common room, security, health home, students’ union, scholarships etc. In respect to the provision of Faculty engagement, the department has three permanent faculties, and one government approved SACT faculty. The department runs general programme courses as well as honours courses, and has implemented the New Education Policy (2020) since 2023. Besides the core course and generic elective courses, there are also varieties of courses offered in the department such as discipline specific courses (DSE), value added courses (VAC), multidisciplinary courses (MDC), ability enhancement compulsory courses (AECC), and highlighting diverse cross-cutting issues like gender sensitization, environment centric and sustainability. The Department has been offering Stress Management (Add on Course) and Sustainable Development (Value Added Course) in addition to the above-mentioned courses.
